Vintage bicycle decoration was a style unto itself both prior to and after the use of water-slide transfers or decals became popular. Striping on bikes in the eastern states seemed to wane shortly after World War 2, but there were still one or two experts to be found in small areas who retained their popularity.

Styled varied tremendously, but still seemed to stay within certain parameters.
